Desolation is a series of wall coverings I made for the walls in my design studio. All images were rendered at the cinematic aspect ratio as presented, typically at 6000 x 1800 pixels, with some as high as 14000 x 3800 pixels.

Digital models of our architectural projects (of both built and unbuilt projects) were stripped of their context and placed into fictitious film scenes. The investigation included dozens of renderings with subtle changes in materials, camera angles and lighting. These final images achieve the desired moods through those ingredients I just mentioned and additional treatments of color adjustment, noise and vignetting (not to mention loads of patience and computing power).
